Hi!
I'm a 24 yrs old, and counting… I live in Canada's capital region, that is to say Gatineau/Ottawa and also in Montreal (2 homes:), but you'll catch me quite often in France :) (And yes I do speak french, and spanish, and some arabic... but that's touchy I'm not really good. :P)
I attend U of Ottawa full time. I'm currently completing my masters in criminology and I also work part-time as a high-school substitute teacher. So when I do get the time to take pictures, I feel quite blessed!
I first started photography in an introductory class of film photography in college with my dad’s old canon FTb. I have to say it’s the hardest photography I’ve ever done, with the lab thing and all… thankfully digital cams came along quickly. I used my dad’s point and shoot for a year or so, doing mostly nature photography and some weird other experiments (let’s not go there :) …
Then I got a D80 for Christmas three years ago, and I do understand how lucky I am!! The camera was a bit complicated for me to handle and I wouldn’t find the motivation to use it so I’ve been quite out of it for a year taking pictures of flowers, again!
Last summer however, I figured it was time to do something so I started taking pictures of amateur models and I really liked it! So that’s what I’m doing now. I enjoy more and more working with people, it brings me so much more than nature photography, not that I don’t like nature!
Now I've got a few messages asking me what type of equipment/lighting I use so I figured I could write a paragraph about it here. :P So here's the list of the stuff in question:
Canon 5D Mk II
50mm Lens
24-70mm Lens
Natural light (yep!)
A few Nikon SB-26 flashes
A few umbrellas
A reflector
Softwares: Lightroom 2.0 (could never live without it) and Photoshop CS3
I also have my cute mini red Nikon L18, always in my bag... :)
So that’s the story for now, I’ll keep you guys updated!
